Denis Freyd started his career as Production Manager in the Department for Program Creation and Research at the National Audiovisual Institute (INA).  In 1988 he decided to create his own company, Archipel 33, which was to produce television films and documentaries, soon to be followed by Archipel 35 which focused on long length feature films for the cinema

His television films include HOTEL DU PARC by Pierre Beuchot, THE LAST DAYS OF IMANUEL KANT by Philippe Collin, MY LIFE AND TIMES WITH ANTONIN ARTAUD by Gérard Mordillat or THE AQUARIUM by Yousry Nasrallah.

He also produced many documentaries for television, often in collaboration with Jean-Louis Comolli, Pierre Beuchot, Mariana Otero, Radovan Tadic, and Henry Colomer.

Denis Freyd produced the 3 part series about the origins of Christianity directed by Gérard Mordillat and Jérôme Prieur: CORPUS CHRISTI, ORIGIN OF CHRISTIANITY, THE APOCALYPSE.

 

For cinema, he has produced several documentaries including LET'S PARTY by Camille de Casabianca, and Mariana Otero's films HISTORY OF A SECRET, INTOW OU OWN HANDS, LlKE AN OPEN SKY.

In 2000 commences a new and long lasting collaboration with Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne, and together they have produced THE SON, THE CHILD, LORNA'S SILENCE, THE KID WITH A BIKE. He has just finished working on their last film TWO DAYS, ONE NIGHT.

Denis Freyd is also the producer of  THE KING'S DAUGHTERS by Patricia Mazuy, BAMAKO by Abderrahmane Sissako, HOME and SISTER by Ursula Meier, 17 GIRLS by Delphine and Muriel Coulin, THE MINISTER by Pierre Schoeller, BIRD PEOPLE by Pascale Ferran.
