Reppublica Nostra • presentation ![]() Two magistrates from the Mani Pulite group: Piercamillo Davigo and Antonio Di Pietro; two election candidates: Giani Pilo, director of the Diakron polling institute and candidate on the Forza Italia list, and an Alfa Romeo factory worker, the ex-communist and PDS member, Alvaro Superchi. Four actors in the tragicomedy played out after the March 1994 elections in Italy: the birth of the new republic promised by Silvio Berlusconi ended in miscarriage. Between March and December 1994 in Milan, Daniele Incalcaterra followed the protagonists as they confronted such critical situations as the fight between Mani Pulite and the government about preventive detention, general strikes, Antonio di Pietro's resignation, and rifts in the ruling coalition. The film is a reflection on the inter-relationships among politics, the law, and the media.
