The Time Is Always Now • Presentation ![]() Six months after the September 11th attacks, New Yorkers are still feeling the shock waves, over and over again. What was supposed to tear the nation apart has had the opposite effect on the vast majority of the population. A time of reflecting and examining one's conscience has quickly given way to renewed patriotic fervor which, for a time, calmed inter-ethnic hostilities. Victims of racial segregation on the part of the American authorities, the Arab-Muslim community has gotten closer to the Jewish community in a unprecedented series of private and public encounters. The two communities, both equally concerned by the Israeli-Arab conflict, are still shouldering the moral weight of the September 11th attacks. Is the friendship suddenly sprouting up among people who until now have remained strangers a harbinger of an even greater catastrophe yet to come, or rather a glimmer of new hope for the future? Documentary of 52mn – Year production: 2002 A coproduction Archipel 33, France 5 with participation from Centre National de la Cinématographie
