A documentary serie directed by Stephen Dwoskin, Lutz Becker, Jean-André Fieschi, Henry Colomer, Hartmut Bitomsky, Semen Aranovitch, André S. Labarthe, Pierre Beuchot
The origin of this series is the desire to encourage the reading of twentieth century European writers now dead: Anna Akhmatova, Isaac Babel, Brendan Behan... Novelists, poets, essayists, they are recognized today as great authors. They have in common the experience of having lived and written in a Europe overturned by crises, wars and revolutions. Their works and their lives serve as witness. Each film has the character of a very personal preface and expresses the joy of discovering a writer's oeuvre.
